About
I’m Zachary Rethorn.
Photography teaches me to see again.
To notice where light falls and where shadows gather. To linger with a face, a street, a landscape long enough for it to become particular. To discover that the more closely I attend to the ordinary moments, the more remarkable they become when I stay with them long enough to really see them.
I make photographs partly because I love photographs. But I also make photographs as a way of becoming the kind of person I want to be: someone capable of reverent attention, deep affection, and imaginative care. The camera asks me to slow down, to notice what is actually here, and to regard the world as something to encounter, know, and love.
ReEnchanting Vision is what I have seen along the way.
